It seems that the Coronavirus infection will not leave Chennai anytime soon!!
Just recently, many students and staff from IIT-Madras tested Covid-19 positive and they have been undergoing treatment. Now, Chennai based Anna University or AU is hogging the limelight because of many Covid-19 cases there.
In this famous university atleast 6 residential students have tested positive( out of a total of 40 samples taken) for Covid-19 infection now. Point is that online classes would be conducted for all the students to avoid spreading of the infection. The AU officials have mentioned that those who tested Covid-19 positive belong to the hostel attached to SAP or school of architecture and planning. It is now clear that as many as400 students belonging to SAP would undergo online classes.
Yesterday, Mr. J.Radhakrishnan, TN health secretary, made his presence felt at the AU campus. A cultural event was held at AU and this was the main reason for the Covid-19 infection to spread here. He spoke about how all those who have symptoms in all the hostels would be tested. He hinted about conducting a saturation test at the AU campus.
Since the month of March 2022, TN has been witnessing only Omicron cases and many sub-lineages of the variant were also noticed. Just a single case of BA4 has been identified till now. In Tamil Nadu, around 44lakhs of people have not yet received even a single dose of vaccination for Coronavirus infection. Following the Covid-19 safety protocols in public places is very essential. Persons with fever must get tested and isolate themselves.
In Chennai, zones like Adyar, Perungudi, Teynapet and Anna Nagar have reported more Covid19 cases. There are now as many as 10 active cases from these areas. It must be noted that adherence to Covid-19 protocols has been weakened in these places.
