If you have thought that Covid-19 infection has gone and there is no need to get vaccinated, then this piece of information would provide you with the answer!!
Though the Covid-19 infections in the last few days are not severe, the number of hospitalisations have increased now. This was as per some officials belonging to the health department of TN. It is a fact that the number of hospitalisations due to this deadly infection has more than doubled now in the state. This has now become a huge cause for concern for many residents.
It must not be forgotten that 10 days back the number of hospitalisations or overall bed occupancy qwas60. It included 24 oxygen beds, 30 non-oxygen beds and 6 ICU beds etc. Now, overall bed occupancy has gone up to 208 with 84 oxygen beds, 113 non-oxygen beds and1 ICU beds.
Till now, the government hospitals in TN did not have Covid-19 patients but now these hospitals have been receiving many Covid affected patients. There are also some referrals from other hospitals also regarding treatment for Covid-19 patients in the govt hospitals.
It is now said that the severity reported in the state was not that bad when compared to last year Covid-19 wave. Persons who are not yet vaccinated and those with co-morbidities are at risk of getting affected by this infection.
It was mentioned by the dean of Stanley Medical College and Hospital in Chennai that for the last few weeks there was not a single Covid-19 patient but now there are 3 Covid-19 patients undergoing treatments. He was not sure about the surge of the number of cases in the coming days. He concluded that those with mild symptoms prefer to be in home based quarantine and they are closely monitored.
Dean of MMC and RGGGH, Chennai Dr. E. Theranirajan explained that at present there are 6 Covid1-9 patients in non-oxygen beds. They were admitted as they had co-morbidities in them. Truth is that RGGGH also receives Covid-19 patents referred to by private hospitals. The shocking truth regarding the hospitalised patients (due to Covid-19) is that they have received just as single dose or unvaccinated.
