The Covid-19 infection cases have been on the rise now in Chennai and many children have been affected now. The kids show mild symptoms of Covid-19 infection like sore throat etc

There are also symptoms such as cold, fever and cough in the kids now and these are positive symptoms of Covid-19 and these symptoms are being mistaken for common flu.

Chennai based Stanley Medical College and Hospital or SMCH has been witnessing many Covid19 cases among the children now. As per Dr. Mohan Kumar of SMCH, there are cases of children with no symptoms testing positive. Atleast 5 to 10 cases of kids in a week here show Covid19 symptoms.

The low testing among the kids has been an issue and while counting the cases not all cases get included.  He threw light on how mortality among the kids has been low due to Covid-19 infection.

It must be noted that the Covid-19 present in the kids comes to the light only after they have passed the infection to their parents and grandparents in the families. The doctors have been finding it tough to identify the kids with Covid-19 infection due to low testing.

Dr. Suresh Kumar, infectious diseases consultant at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai explained that the parents are scared to get their kids tested. He added that the parents assume that their kids would not get affected with Covid-19 infection because of the fact that previous infection waves had low incidences of kids affected with Covid1-19 infection. The shocking truth is that whether the infection is mild or not it can be passed from kids to the elders easily. The elders would become the main carrier of the Covid-19 infection.

Information gathered is that the management of paediatric cases has been similar to that of adults. Unless there are co-morbid conditions present, the severity has been low only.
