Traffic changes in Anna Salai

On the occasion of ‘Devar Jayanthi’ today (Wednesday, 30th October), it is expected large sections of crowds led by the prominent political leaders of different parties will proceed to offer garlands/prayers to the statue of “Devar’ located in the Chennai Metro City Anna Salai Nandanam junction. So, some traffic changes are to be implemented from 7.00 AM this morning.
Vehicles proceeding from Saidapet towards Nandanam and Chamier’s Road will turn left in the Anna Salai Link Road junction and take the route via Link Road, Mdelatmand Road, V N Road, South Boag Road, North Boag Road, Theagaraya Road, Eldams Road, and SIET- KB Dasan Road.
Vehicles proceeding from Teynampet to Saidaet in Anna salai will turn at the Anna Salai-Cenotaph Road junction and move via GK Moopanar overbridge, Gandhi Mandapam Road, and Sardar Vallabhai Patel Road.
G K Moopanar overbridge will be 1-way traffic and vehicles will be allowed towards Kotturpuram in the Anna Salai-Cenotaph Road junction. Vehicles from Kotturpuram to Anna Salai will not be allowed.
Vehicles proceeding from Chamier’s Road to Saidapet will be diverted at the Turnbulls junction via Cenotaph Road junction, G K Moopanar overbridge, Gandhi Mandapam Road, and Sardar Patel Road.
In case traffic density increases
In case the traffic density turns out to be higher, some more changes will be made in the traffic. Especially the vehicles proceeding from Guindy may not be allowed to Nandanam but diverted via Taluk Office Road, Sardar Vallabhai Patel Road, Gandhi Mandapam Salai, and Kottupuram Salai.
Vehicles proceeding from Anna Salai towards Nandanam will have to take a diversion at the CIT Nagar 1st Man Road-Anna Salai junction and move via CIT Nagar 1st Main Road, South Usman Road, Madely Junction, Burkitt Road, Thanikachalam Road, Melani Road, South Boag Road, and North Boag Road to reach Anna Salai.
Vehicles coming from Kathipara junction will be diverted via CIPET, Kasi overbridge, Vadapalani, and Arcot Road towards Anna Salai.
Public Cooperation
Vehicles proceeding from Tambaram towards Kathipara will be diverted at the Kathipara junction towards CIPET. Vehicles coming from Thiruneermalai overbridge will be diverted via Bypass Road. Vehicles proceeding from Western Line in the 200 ft road will be diverted to Old Mahabalipuram Road. Vehicles proceeding from Tambaram will be diverted to Bypass Road.
