No more worries regarding the location of MTC buses in Chennai!!
On 4th May 2022 a mobile app Chennai Bus was launched by the minister for transport Mr. S.S.L Sivashankar. By this app, it would be possible to locate the MTC buses in Chennai on a real time basis.
As many as 3233 MTC buses would be monitored with the help of location tracking devices now. This Chennai Bus app has been developed by MTC in association with Chalo, a transport technology company. It is noteworthy that MTC buses run through 602 routes and stop at 6026 stoppages that include destinations too.
The superb piece of information is that with the help of this application Chennaites would be able to reach railway stations and other major places in Chennai city without any issue. At present, it would be available only on the android mobile phones. During an emergency, the person with this app would be able to send alerts to his or her contacts and police department also.
Route numbers of MTC buses could be known by the trip planner option present in the application and bus route option could be used to know about the location of any MTC bus.
It is learnt that when the user presses the ‘bus route’ option and enters the route number then he or she would get all the operational buses on the mobile screen. Buses running between 2 destinations would be known to the users when they press the ‘route’ option. This was explained by an official belonging to MTC.
By pressing the ‘stops’ option on the app and entering bus terminus or stop from where they would board the bus, then the commuters would be able to know about the buses that were parked at bus stands or bus terminuses plus those buses that are approaching them etc.
