Many of us drink hot delicious tea in the morning and this boosts our energy and makes us fresh. Drinking a cup of hot tea would certainly lift our spirits. It must be noted that the tannins present in the tea leaves would give colour and flavour to the tea. Sometimes, the tea we drink might not be hot enough and due to this reason we reheat it in a gas stove or microwave etc and then consume it. Not many would know that reheating and drinking tea would create health problems in us.

What drinking reheated tea could do to us?

While reheated tea might be delicious to taste, but it must not be consumed by us as it can create few issues in us.

The issues are

Can lead to iron deficiency:

If you are confused about the reason for your iron deficiency, then it might be due to drinking reheated tea also. There are tannins present in the leaves of tea and by reheating tea the concentration of tannins would increase. It must be taken into account that high concentration of tannins would prevent absorption of nutrients from other foods we eat in the day. As a result, iron intake would reduce by 30% to 40% and it could lead to iron deficiency in us. So, please be careful.

Acidity and stomach related issues:

By drinking reheated chai, we can get acidity. The reason is that reheating tea leaves would make them more acidic in nature when mixed with milk especially. This acidity can result in heartburn and acid reflux issues etc in us.  We could get a burning type of sensation in the stomach and this would create discomfort for us.

Dehydration:

It is true that by drinking reheated tea we could get dehydration issues.  Reheating tea would lead to concentration of caffeine. Not many of us know the fact that caffeine is also mild diuretic and this would lead to frequent urination. As a result, we could get dehydrated by this.

Right way to drink tea:

The right way to drink tea is by drinking it fresh and not reheating and consuming it. The tea leaves must be brewed for not more than 3 to 5 minutes. It would be better to use almond milk or coconut milk etc instead of normal milk. It is highly beneficial if we drink medicinal teas like chamomile tea or hibiscus tea instead of normal tea.
