As a mother, you perhaps have been facing the challenge of making your kid have her breakfast. This ordeal is a day to day stuff and inescapable. Importantly, of the three main meals, breakfast is even more important. You should make sure to give a balanced breakfast that is filling and nutritional with enough amount of protein and vegetables.
May be you have already tried your hands on Idli and Sambar, or Dhosa! They must have turned boring to them. So, here we bring an interesting morning breakfast recipe that is going to be nutritional and still tasty and easy to make too. It also has a fantastic visual appeal.
Stuffed whole wheat Masala Dhosa
Required Ingredients
Ingredients for Dosa
- Wheat flour 1 cup
- Rice flour 1 tbsp
- Semolina 1 tbsp
- Salt as required
Ingredients to prepare filling
- Vegetables (altogether) potatoes, peas, carrot and cauliflower 1 cup
- (these vegetables should be cooked and semi-smashed)
- Turmeric powder ½ tbsp
- Onions 1 (sliced)
- Green chillies 2-3 (as per your taste)
- Curry leaves a string
- Oil 3 tbsp
- Mustard seeds ½ tbsp
- Chanal dal 1 tbsp
- Salt as required
- Coriander leaves a hand full
Cooking Method
Method to prepare dhosa
- Take a wide bowl and add all the flours mentioned under the ingredients for Dhosa batter. Mix all of them together with required amount of salt.
- Add required amount of water to achieve a dhosa bater consistency
- Once ready, keep it aside.
Method to prepare the filling
- Take a pressure cooker and add all the vegetables of your choice.
- To this, add turmeric powder and a little water. Pressure cook this mix in high flame for three whistles.
- Once pressure gets released, remove the lid and smash the vegetables partially.
- Heat a kadai in the stove and add oil. Sputter mustard seeds.
- To this, add channa dal and curry leaves and fry until it turns brown in color.
- Now add onions and green chilllies. Fry until it turns golden brown.
- Once it is fried, add the smashed vegetables and thoroughly mix with salt.
- Allow this mixture to get cooked for about a minute. Finally, add coriander leaves
- Remove it and keep aside.
Method to make dhosa
- Take a non-stick Tawa and heat it.
- Make Dhosa using the prepared batter like you make regular dhosa.
- Once the bottom side is cooked and crisp, turn it upside down and allow the flipside to get cooked. For this, pour required amount of oil.
- Now, take a spoon full of the cooked vegetable inside the dhosa and spread it evenly. Make this into a roll. Pour oil above this again.
- This does not require any chutney or gravy. You can have it as it is. If you wish, you may serve this hot with coconut chutney.
