The next target of cyclone Gaja?

According to the Weather Bureau, the cyclone Gaja, which formed recently over the Bay of Bengal and created heavy damage and great havoc in the delta districts of the state of Tamil Nadu, has now crossed Kerala and entered the Arabian sea.

The Northeast monsoon rainy season in the state of Tamil Nadu commenced on 1st November. During the 1st week after the onset of northeast monsoon rainy season, it rained heavily in the Cauvery delta districts and the southern districts of Tamil Nadu.

During this juncture, a sudden formation of a depression zone developed over Thailand drifted towards the Andaman Islands and intensified to transform into a cyclone on 10th November. This cyclone drifted towards the central and central northeast part of the Bay of Bengal and then drifted towards Tamil Nadu.

The cyclone, now named Gaja, with stormy cyclonic winds, crossed te coast during the midnight on 15th November, During this period, this cyclone caused heavy damage and severely affected the districts of Puducherry, Karaikkal, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Trichy, Dindigul, Sivagangai, and Theni.

Subsequently, he cyclone Gaja has now entered the Arabian Sea via Kerala State. Though this cyclone has crossed Thailand, Andaman, Tamil Nadu, ad Kerala, the intensity and severity of the cyclone Gaja has not abated yet! Though it has crossed the Asia Continent, it is still equally intense and drifting presently toward the country of Somalia in South Africa!

As on yesterday night (Sunday, 18th November), the cyclone was revolving intensely as a depression zone in the upper layers of the atmosphere. The Meteorological Centre has estimated that this would lose intensity now and would change to a low-pressure zone. Because of this, fishermen have been barred from entering the Arabian Sea.

As such, the cyclone Gaja is now drifting towards the country of Somalia in South Africa s per the latest info!
