Folic acid was discovered between the years 1931 and 1943. It is known that B vitamins are water soluble vitamins. Folates or also called as folic acid or folacin belongs to this B vitamins. In USA, this folic acid or folates is highly recommended for daily consumption.  Pregnancy is the most important time in the life of a woman. For the growth of both mother and the baby lots of nutrients are needed. It must be noted that pregnant mothers need vitamin B9 that is folate or folic acid. NTD or Neural Tube Defects is one major issue during the pregnancy and folates are consumed to avoid this issue.

Lowers risk of having anaemia during pregnancy time - This is one of the tremendous benefits of consuming folates or folic acids during pregnancy.
