In both domestic as well as in the international airport terminals in Chennai, the price of foods as well as beverages would come down. This would surely bring some relief to many passengers at the Chennai airport.
Several complaints were received from the passengers at the Chennai airport regarding the high cost of foods and beverages etc. This was as per some officials belonging to AAI. The officials have decided to reduce the prices of foods and beverages etc by 20 percent.
It was mentioned by an officer that every passenger was different and what might be reasonable for one passenger might be high for another passenger. He threw light on the discussions that were held regarding bringing down the price of food and beverages. He hinted that the packaged items would be sold as per MRP rates as usual.
It must not be forgotten that in the past many complaints were received for the high prices of coffee and tea and as per AAI there were outlets with subsidised rates in specific areas of both passenger terminals in Chennai.
At the Chennai airport, a new integrated terminal would be coming up and the space for the commercial section of both terminals would increase. As a result, more options for dining and shopping would be available for the passengers at Chennai airport. Point to be noted is that the transit passengers who would be spending more time at the airport before catching their next flight would be highly benefited as they would have more options.
