The Chennai Meteorological Department has announced that the deep depression in the Bay of Bengal is intensifying into a cyclone and will be named the Fengal Cyclone within the next three hours.
Currently located 470 km southeast of Chennai, the system is expected to move in a northwesterly direction and cross the coast between Karaikal and Mamallapuram tomorrow (30th November). During landfall, wind speeds may reach 90 kmph, posing risks in the region.
An orange alert has been issued for northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and southern Andhra Pradesh, warning residents to prepare for heavy rains and strong winds. The Meteorological Department advises caution and urges the public to stay updated on further developments.
