Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) Needed – Put-off Bunching of Buses

Due to the bunching of busses in few of the city’s bus stops, the commuters need to wait for Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) buses for a lengthy time.

More than one buses of the certain route buses arrives the bus stop more or less at the same time, this causes the bunching to happen.

We are facing the bunching problem, in the bus routes including 2A (Anna Salai to Kaviarasu Kannadasan Nagar) and 27B (CMBT to Anna Square); nearly we are getting around three to four buses  within the duration of 5 minutes and one has to wait for at least half an hour till next bus arrives,  stated M. Vijayanth, a commuter.

Insufficient count of the time-keepers in the bus depot, will in turn allows the buses to dispatch together at the same time, causes the main reason for the bunching of the buses. If more than one bus reaches the depot at a time, the time-keeper should necessarily fine-tune the time and send the busses for the next trip.

As per the new rule, the ticket-checkers in bus stops has to produce the report on the bunching of the buses in each bus stop to the headquarters. A Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) has to be introduced to key in the bunching problem.
