Social media network – Facebook & Twitter – to be banned in Government offices?

Tamil Nadu Election officials have asked for explanation from the Central Election Commission regarding the banning of social media networks such as Facebook & Twitter in the government offices.
With th elections fast nearing, the intensity of campaign of different political parties has intensified all over including the social networking sites. Apart from this, millions of internet users have registered their opinions and viewpoints on these sites. So, the central election commission has considered placing some restrictions on this.
Government Offices
With the increasing degree of computerization in offices, availability of internet has become essential. So, the employees of central government have access to seeing the postings at these sites. This may not be proper during the election times as the employees can be motivated by them. As such, it is planned to ban these sites during the election period. Central government employees are perplexed by this development.
However, till now, there has been no such announcement from the Election commission.
