Steep fall of ground water level

Reports generated by the survey of Public Works Department (PWD) in March state the ground water level is falling down sharply in districts including Theni and Coimbatore that abuts Western Ghats. Compared to water levels at varied places, these two remain at the lowest with 15.56m and 15.22m respectively. Since March 2013, there has been a continuous fall of water level by 05.m to 2.3m. In Chennai, the water level has fallen by 0.9m. Amidst this, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Tiruvannamalai are also facing similar situations.
