Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had a meeting with the ministers and senior officials about the severe water shortage throughout Tamil Nadu and how to overcome the same.
It is rather usual for Tamil Nadu to face acute drinking water shortage during every summer. Frequent failure of monsoon is one of the reasons for this. Severe drinking water shortage is experienced the northern & southern districts of Tamil Nadu. The public are seen waiting for hours for the drinking water trucks. A report was submitted to the chief minister.
The meeting decided on certain immediate steps to be taken. Installing deep bore-wells, arranging water tankers, and arranging water storage tanks in every street corner are some of the actions to be taken.
Awareness must be created among public about the necessity to save water. Efforts must be taken to find water sources and to expand the existing sources.
