Most offices to shift to corporation annexe from Ripon building

As the corporation annexe is expected to get opened in the early days of next month, most of the departments functioning inside Ripon building will move on to the new building. However, few departments like the office of mayor, commissioner and other head of departments will remain in the Ripon building which stands as a magnificent structure constructed of Indo-Saracenic architecture in the year 1913.

The new structure, earlier named as the Anna building by the former Tamil Nadu CM, M.Karunanidhi is been constructed since past three years at a cost of Rs 28 crore. It is wide spread across 120000 sq. ft. However, the current government is yet to make a call on naming it newly. Speaking to the officials, they state that other small buildings spread around the main heritage structure will soon be demolished and a beautiful landscape garden will be formed.
