Even as the wind power generation contributed 2,030 MW of power generation, there was a shortage of 280 MW of power yesterday, 1st June.

With the intensification of south-west monsoon winds during the end of May, the generation  from wind power started increasing. The government also announced power will be  supplied without any cuts from 1st June.

However, the power demand in Tamil Nadu as on 1st June was 10,780 MW. Even with the additional power from the wind power stations and some thermal units, only 10,500 MW was available. There was a shortfall of 280 MW of power. As usual, the shortage was countered by effecting rotational power cuts in villages & agricultural connections,
