Who or where to complain about electricity pilferage?

Any use of electric power not following the Electricity Disciplinary Rules is considered as pilferage of electric power.

Different methods of electricity pilferage are:
  • Illegally connecting leads from a pillar box junction or a transformer
  • Taking power from one house to another,
  • Using a power line meant for domestic purposes to commercial purposes
  • Arresting the running meter with objects such as powerful magnets
  • Disconnecting the meter periodically while using power
  • Instead of taking a permission for temporary connections for buildings or constructions using a permanent source
18 flying squads and squads formed by retired military personnel function under the Chairman of the Electricity Board to detect & reduce the pilferage of electric power throughout Tamil Nadu.
