Revamp in Anna Salai and Poonamallee High Road

Four main roads across the city, together with the Anna Salai and Poonamallee High Road, will get its modernization, commencing with the street furniture’s.

The highways department sources said that installation of signage, warning boards and reflectors lies top in the revamping work.

The idea of this kind of project is to equip these roads with top-notch amenitities. As a first phase, Grand Northern Trunk Road and Jawaharlal Nehru Salai will get its enhancement possessions.  

Later once after the Metro rail works gets over, both Anna Salai and Poonamallee High Road will be accountable for attention, said the sources.

The highway department has been preparing the estimation for installation works including gantry panels which run over the roads, cantilever boards that wrap one side of the road, danger markers that indicate the clippings of the medians, and shiny median indications.

The gantry and cantilever panels will be placed each and every 54 traffic signals. Nearly about 100 shiny markers will be placed in every kilometer. About 64km has been planned to roof with these markers. 

Residents suggest the department that the putting in of reflectors on medians should be set high priority among the works to be seized up.

Owing to unsuitable lighting, the rim of the median is not clearly noticeable in several places and this direct to motorists slipping next to the solid edifices, complaints registered by the residents.
