Restriction on import price of onion relaxed for the festival season!

With the onset of the festival season & the marriage season, the demand for onions is expected to increase considerably. In order to make ready availability and keep the prices at a reduced level, the central government has planned to relax the restrictions on import of onions.

The central government has been taking various measures to control the hoarding of potato & onion which made way for steep rise in prices.

As one such measure, the minimum price onion for export was fixed at Rs. 30000/- per ton & potato at Rs. 27000/- per ton.

He central government announced that Potato & onion were included in the list of essential items Act from July. In order to avoid any shortage of these items during the festival season, the restrictions on import have been relaxed. It is expected that 3 Lakh tons of onion will be imported in the next few weeks.
