SOUTHERN RAILWAY ANNOUNCES DIVERSION IN AUGUST DUE TO COMMISSIONING OF COIMBATORE IRUGUR SECOND RAILWAY LINE WORK

Southern Railway, Salem Division, has announced changes in operation of trains by re-routing them via Coimbatore Podanur Irugur and passing through trains via Podanur Irugur Podanur section skipping Coimbatore Junction on August 12, 15, 16, 18 and 19. The change in traffic pattern is to enable commissioning of the Coimbatore Irugur second railway line work.
A release from Salem division said that on August 12, 15, 16 and 18, the following trains originating and terminating at Coimbatore Junction will be routed from Coimbatore via Podanur and Irugur skipping North Coimbatore and Peelamedu stations.
On August 12, Train Number 2676, Coimbatore Chennai / Kovai Express will re-routed in the said pattern, on August 15, the following trains would be re-routed, Chennai Coimbatore Kovai Express (2675), Coimbatore Chennai Kovai Express (2676), Coimbatore Nizamuddin Kongu Express (2647), Coimbatore Nagercoil Express (6610), Mettuppalayam Chennai - Nilagiri Express (2672), Coimbatore Chennai Cheran Express (2674). On August 16, Coimbatore Chennai Intercity Express (2680), Coimbatore Mayiladuthurai Jan Shatabdi Express (2084), Coimbatore Lok Manya Tilak Express (1014), Coimbatore Chennai Kovai Express (2676), Coimbatore Nagercoil Express (6610), Mettuppalayam Chennai Nilagiri Express (2672), Coimbatore Chennai Cheran Express (2674), on August 18, Chennai Coimbatore Kovai Express (2675) and Coimbatore Chennai Kovai Express (2676).
Stoppage at Podanur
Trains passing through Coimbatore will be run via Podanur Irugur line skipping Coimbatore, North and Peelamedu stations. However, the trains would have a stoppage at Podanur instead of Coimbatore Junction.
Re routing is as per the following schedule; On August 12, Jammu Tawi Kanyakumari Express (6318) stoppage at Podanur at 10.10 hours, Dhanbad Tata Alleppey Express (3351) at 12.10 hours, Shalimar Thiruvananthapuram Express (6324) at 12.35 hours, Bangalore Ernakulam Intercity Express (2677) at 13.10 hours, Alleppey Tata Dhanbad Express (3352) at 12.00 hours, Thiruvananthapuram - Korba Express (6328) at 15.10 hours and Kochuveli Hyderabad Express (7229) at 16.30 hours.
On August 15, the following trains would run via Podanur Irugur instead of Coimbatore; Jammu Tawi-Mangalore Express (6688) at 10.10 hours, Dhanbad Tata Alleppey Express (3351) at 12.10 hours, Patna Ernakulam Express (6310) at 12.35 hours, Bangalore Ernakulam Intercity Express (2677) at 13.10 hours, Guwhati Ernakulam (2508) at 14.10, Alleppey Tata Dhanbad Express (3352) at 12.00 hours, Ernakulam Bangalore Intercity Express (2678) at 12.45 hours, Thiruvananthapuram Gorakhpur Express (2512) at 15.10 hours, Kochuveli Hyderabad Express (7229) at 16.30 hours, Kanyakumari Mumbai CSTM Express (6382) at 18.05 hours, Thiruvananthapuram New Delhi Kerala Express (2625) at 20.00 hours, Thiruvananthapuram Guwahati Express (2515) at 21.35 hours, Kanyakumari Bangalore Island Express (6525) at 22.5.50 hours.
On August 16 the following trains would run via Podanur Irugur section, Nagercoil Shalimar Express (2659) at 00.55 hours, Thiruvananthapuram Chennai Express (2696) at 02.05, Ernakulam Nagore Tea Garden Express (6866) at 03.05 hours, Mangalore Chennai West Coast Express (6628) at 06.30 hours, Alleppey Tata Dhanbad Express (3352) at 12.00 hours, Ernakulam Bangalore Intercity Express (2678) at 12.45 hours, Thiruvananthapuram Korba Express (6328) at 15.10 hours, Kochuveli Hyderabad Express (7229) at 16.30 hours, Kanyakumari Mumbai CSTM (6382) at 18.05 hours, Thiruvananthapuram New Delhi Kerala Express (2625) at 20.00 hours, Ernakulam Patna Express (6309) at 21.35 hours, Kanyakumari Bangalore Island Express (6525) at 22.50 hours.
Intercity Express
On August 18, Dhanbad Tata Alleppey Express (3351) at 12.10 hours, Bangalore Ernakulam Intercity Express (2677) at 13.10 hours, Alleppey Tata Dhanbad Express (3352) at 12.00 hours, Ernakulam Bangalore Intercity Express (2678) at 12.45 hours, Thiruvananthapuram Gorakhpur Express (2512) at 15.10 hours, Kochuveli Hyderabad Express (7229) at 16.30 hours.
August 19, Jammu Tawi Kanyakumari Express (6318) at 10.10 hours, Thiruvananthapuram Korba Express (6328) at 15.10 hours, the change in train traffic is only on specified dates such as August 12, 15, 16, 18 and 19 to minimise disturbance to normal train service.
There will be NO change in the timings or route of the train except for those mentioned above
