Ecommerce giants Flipkart and Snapdeal overwhelmingly say that they saw sale for Rs 600 crore on a single day.
These two ecommerce websites compete with other retails and provide all products including apparels, electronic items, kitchen appliances, and many other daily utilities. All these products are sold online.
Owing to fast nearing Diwali, Flipkart announced a mega sale on its website day before yesterday. It gave the name ‘Big Billion Day’ and the offer started at 8am. They announced few specific products just at one Rupee which certainly dragged the attention of millions of customers.
Competing with their huge sale, other ecommerce site like Snapdeal went on giving offers in their sites too. At the end of the day, these two ecommerce sites excitedly said they saw sale of products worth Rs 600 crore which certainly is a ginormous amount!
Apologies please, it’s
technical fault!!
Flipkart however couldn’t manage selling products at discounted price as mentioned in their sale, and went on gaining poor names and comments on all social media pages. As a sign of apology for the huge mistake, founders of Flipkart Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal have sent personal note of apology to each one of its customers. They apologized for non-availability of products at discounted price, automatic cancellation of orders and changes in rate citing technical fault.
To match with these faults, the company then came forward providing discount coupons ranging between Rs 500 and Rs 2000.
Customer experience:
Speaking to one of the
customers about this commotion in online shopping with Flipkart in the Big
Billion Day sale, he says he ordered a mobile phone at Rs 1500, but it got
booked at a price Rs 5500. This order however got cancelled in one day.
Flipkart then matched the issue with a coupon worth Rs 500. This coupon has a tangle in it stating that the coupon can be of use only when the buyer purchases products worth Rs 2000 and above. If this is to get continued with online shopping sites, the only choice will be to quit using ecommerce sites and go for direct purchase from retail shops, he says with a distressed mood.
Offers continue despite
setback – Flipkart seems not to stop:
Despite all apologies and huge black mark on the ecommerce giant, Flipkart keeps giving out offers and discounts still.
What will be the case with
Amazon next?
Amidst these issues with
Flipkart and Snapdeal, Amazon the other ecommerce giant which is set to
commence its online sale on 10th is looked upon for how it will
handle its discounts!
Please bring them all under
control!
Though it is a healthy competition among all ecommerce websites, this doesn’t seem to sound good for other retailers and hence the Indian Chamber of Commerce has come forward with a plea to put these ecommerce sales under control
