After increasing milk prices multiple times last year to up to Rs 52/litre, private milk producers appear to be heading toward rollback mode, with at least one slashing the price of toned milk by Rs 2/litre.

Unable to compete with state-run cooperative Aavin, which has flooded the market with various varieties of milk, Andhra Pradesh-based milk producer Dodla was among the first to reduce the price of toned milk.

Dodla have reduced the price of toned milk from Rs 42/litre to Rs 40/litre.

Private milk firm Heritage has cut down the price of toned milk and double toned milk by Rs 2 per litre effective from May 1.
