Pests are a mainstay in our lives - its true! Here are a few pest control tips that may help you.

Termites: Effective soil treatment is the key to termite control. A chemical barrier needs to be put in between the soil and the building structure. The treatment has to be done to the top surface of the plinth filling, the soil that is between the junction of the soil and the wall or the floor, the external perimeter, around the utility pipes and conduit and the expansion and construction joints. Buildings that have not had termite control treatment during the time of building can still avail this treatment. In this case, the pesticide will be pumped into drilled holes at the wall and floor junction. This will ensure that the termites do not pass the chemical barrier.

Wood borers: Treatment for wood borers can be done by injecting chemicals into the wood.

Rodents: Rodents include animals like rats, mice and bandicoots. In addition to being pests, rodents are carriers of deadly diseases. They also damage property by chewing into wires. Rodents can be controlled though a combination of baiting, trapping and proofing.

Cockroaches, bed bugs, ants and lizards: These pests live alongside humans freely. Pest control treatments should work effectively in eliminating these pests from your home. Insecticide may be sprayed in every crack and crevice. Most insecticides are effective for all the above pests.

Flies and mosquitoes: Flies and mosquitoes can be controlled through fogging in the outdoor areas of the premises. Frequency of fogging will depend on the density of the pests in the area. Another method of control is spraying. Colourless and odourless insecticide is sprayed inside the home. When mosquitoes come in contact with the medicine - typically when they sit on a wall - they will die.
