All banks, schools, colleges and government offices will remain closed in Tamil Nadu for 4 successive days from 24th December.
Central Government Employees Welfare Council has changed the date of the Muslim festival Miladi Nabi from 23rd December to 24th December. Hence, December 24 (Miladi Nabi), December 225 (Christmas), December 26 (4th Saturday of the month) and December 27 (Sunday) will all be holidays and schools, colleges, banks and government institutions will remain closed.
With the recent unprecedented incessant rains and subsequent floods, all schools & colleges have remain closed in the affected districts of Chennai, Kanchipuram, and Thiruvallur.
In the districts of Cuddalore, Tuticorin, and Nagai also, many schools and colleges were closed.
After this long break of rain/flood holidays students have been attending schools only for the last 1 week. In this scenario, the sequence of 4 days successive holiday starts on 24th December.
Since the banks also will not be functioning for these 4 days, it can be expected that the public will be subjected to a lot of hardship.
