The Padi Pooja (Special Prayers performed on the sacred steps of the famous Sabarimala Temple leading to the Sanctum Sanctorum) is performed at a cost of Rs. 75000.
Though it is a rather expensive pooja fee, the Padi pooja in Sabarimala Temple are booked till the year 2033.
Padi Pooja is not performed during the Mandala and Makara Vilakku Seasons. The Padi pooja is performed for 4 days at the end of Makara Vilakku Pooja and also on the days when the temple corridors are opened for performing the Monthly Pooja (according to the Tamil/Malayalam calendar).
The Padi Pooja for the new year 2017 is scheduled to start on 16th January, Padi Pooja will be performed for 4 consecutive days from 16th January to 19th January at 5.30 PM in the Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa Temple. The Padi pooja is performed under the leadership of Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru.
10 devotees will be permitted to watch the Pooja for special Darshan during the Padi Pooja. Prior to this, silk cloth will be spread over the steps and lamps will be lit and kept on each step and decorated with flowers and then the Padi Pooja is performed.During the Padi Pooja occasion, devotees are not allowed to enter this route of 18 steps.
The deity of Lord Ayyappa and the corridors of the temple will be decorated with flowers and garlands. The fee for the flower decoration is Rs. 25000. During this pooja, 5 devotees will be allowed for a special Darshan. The flowers for the decoration will be supplied by the Travancore Devaswom Board.
The deity of the Lord Ayyappa will be given a sacred bath or Abhishekham with water from 100 vessels.For this ‘Sahasra Kalasa Pooja’, the fee is Rs. 40000.
The fee for the Udayasthamana Pooja is Rs. 40000 and the fee for Pushpabhishekham is fixed at Rs. 10000.
