Back to back weather systems in Bay of Bengal has kept the Northeast Monsoon active ever since its onset. Now, another low pressure area is brewing in Bay of Bengal and will be approaching India’s East Coast soon.
This will be the fourth low pressure area in quick succession to affect the weather over Tamil Nadu including Chennai. According to Skymet Weather, a trough of low is seen over Malay Peninsula and adjoining areas.
Cloud configuration and atmospheric conditions are indicating that the system is likely to get more marked and induce a low pressure area over south Andaman Sea and neighbourhood during next 48 hours.
With long sea travel left, the system would continue to move in favourable weather conditions and is most likely to concentrate into a depression during the subsequent 24 hours.
Unlike the last low pressure area which moved towards South Tamil Nadu, this system would most likely would head towards North Tamil Nadu. As per weathermen, the system is likely to move in west-northwest direction towards North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh coast around November 29.
During this time, Chennai rains are likely to revive once again, as we are expecting moderate to heavy rains over North Tamil Nadu and Chennai, along with parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Initially rains over Chennai and nearby areas would be light but are likely to intensify by the night of December 3. These good showers are likely to continue for another 48 hours till December 5.
