The Department of Income Tax has announced that special counters will be set up to facilitate the public filing of Income Tax returns for the financial years 2016-17 and 2017-18.
Based on the detailed data collected, the Income Tax Department has sent letters to the individuals who had stopped filing IT returns and those who have failed to file IT returns, especially for those who had not filed their IT returns for the financial years 2016-17 and 2017-18 reminding them about it.
Many individuals who had received the above letter have approached the IT Departments for guidance, the procedure, and clarifications. Further. 31st March is the last date to file the IT returns for the years 2016-17 and 2017-18.
Considering the above response and to encourage and facilitate those who are self-employed or pensioners to file their Income Tax returns, special arrangements have been set up by the IT Department.
IT returns can be filed in the following places in the Chennai Metro City:
Aayakar Bhavan, 121, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Nungambakkam, Chennai – 600 034
BSNL Building, 16, Grems Road, Chennai – 600 006
No. 130-B, Mudichur Road, West Tambaram, Chennai 600 045
IT returns can be filed in the above offices and service centres from 9.15 AM to 5.45 PM.
