The news that Corporation of Chennai has got plans to install ATMs in the public toilets in T. Nagar has been the topic for discussion for many now.
It is now said that the people living in T. Nagar locality would have multipurpose public toilets because GCC or Greater Chennai Corporation would be installing ATM centres soon.
T. Nagar is highly popular residential place in the city of Chennai. There are as many as 200 public toilets in and around this T. Nagar in Chennai and these 200 toilets are of different sizes and types.
According to an official of GCC, all the toilets in this locality of T.Nagar would be renovated and upgraded. This is according to ABD or area based development of smart city mission.
As many as 39 public toilets in this locality would be overhauled by the civic body. These toilets would have ATM centres within the toilet compound. As per the needs some toilets would be upgraded as e-toilets.
The official also spoke about how inputs from the public are very important and how the corporation is now in the process of getting inputs from the residents.
The superb piece of information that has come out is the Tiruchirappalli Corporation has installed ATM in one of its public toilets and soon ATMs would be installed in as many as 16 public toilets there.
It is now revealed that the income for the corporation would be got from both the area that is provided for these ATMs as well as from the advertisements displayed at the walls of these toilets.
The official also threw light on how without spending money from corporation coffer the toilets could be maintained easily by the income got by the above mentioned processes.
Detailed project report would be prepared so that the plan to install ATMs in public toilets would be implemented.
