Students studying in the classes 11 and 12 in Tamil Nadu have been writing two papers for English subject and for other languages. Many students find it difficult to write more papers. This won’t be a problem for the students anymore.

The latest news now is government of Tamil Nadu is planning to reduce number of core subjects from 4 to 3 and reduce the total marks to 500.

It is worthy to note that presently the higher secondary school students under the TN state board syllabus write as many as 8 exams at the end of their academic year.

Students these days face enormous pressure is well known and it is now said that to reduce this pressure the parents plus educationists have suggested the state government to reduce the number of papers. It is revealed that this reduction in the number of papers would be on par with the CBSE schools whose students write lesser papers.

Language papers 1 and 2 might be combined into a single paper and this was confirmed by the sources belonging to department. One more important piece of information is English paper 1 and 2 would also be combined to a single paper.

On par with CBSE, the number of core subjects might also be reduced to 3 soon. This would result in great uniformity in the evaluation system.

According to the sources it is also said that merging of commerce paper and accountancy papers might also be carried out and discussions with teachers would be held for this sake.

Students studying computer science and biology would also get benefited as merging of papers would also be done for them.

Officials have gone to New Delhi to discuss the above mentioned proposals and after consultation with many stakeholders a final call would be taken. This has been confirmed by another official of school education department.
