After the announcement in the month of July in 2016 by the state government, round a clock trauma centre was started in this hospital recently. Approval of the building plan was awaited by the hospital authorities. It must be noted that the preliminary level of project in the old building offers facilities like casualty care, anaesthetics, paediatric, emergency care centre etc. The number of outpatient admission per day is around 1000 to 1500.
According to chief medical officer, Dr. Inbavalli, all check up facilities to pregnant women before and after the birth of the child is available here and pregnancy cases are enrolled at the highest level.
She spoke about the need for a separate block for neo-natal care and how BP monitor, cardio-respiratory monitor, pulse oximeter, transcutaneous oxygen or carbon dioxide monitor, X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan etc would be available for neo-natal care at the unit in this taluk government hospital in Tambaram.
It is worthy to mention here that this hospital also handles trauma patients from GET Road, Mudichur Road plus it also handles other patients coming from Tambaram, Pallavaram, Kundrathur, Meenambakkam, Padappai etc. Facilities and equipments like ultrasonogram and anaesthesia machine for traumatic care are also available at the new unit of this hospital. To provide clinical services for the emergency cases, this hospital has joined hands with a private lab. Effective treatment for snake poisoning and for those suffering from non-communicable diseases could be got from the hospital. This was confirmed by some hospital authorities.
