WhatsApp banking provided by ICICI and Kotak Banks

An interactive messaging section has been planned by Kotak Bank and ICICI fir the customers in the categories of feedback, queries and verification. Kotak bank reported the testing phase of the WhatsApp’s enterprise solution to its customers. The bank had mentioned that the pilot operation of closed members are showing successful results in connecting customers through WhatsApp. ICICI Bank is also in the same developing zone incorporating the smartphone messaging tool with the customers. The official launches of the messaging enterprises are yet to be announced.

Local SMS enabling processes are always one-way communication flows that do not engage the customer feedback and queries. Now the new plan of Kotak Bank to mingle WhatsApp along with the bank operations will enable the Customers to interact with the bank for their account details, doubts and banking decisions.

Both ICICI and Kotak are in plans to verify the customer WhatsApp numbers for information on service requests like PAN updating process, Editing mobile numbers and email identifications. Aadhar based verification, Activation and deactivation of the passbook and changing home branches.

ICICI allocated a special closed group testing the WhatsApp operation etched on with the banking services and announced the opening of the facility within four weeks. Customers can interact, store, retrieve and operate their bank accounts with the WhatsApp messenger app. BookMyShow is the pioneer of such adaptation of WhatsApp into the user interaction for booking movie tickets. Now the Kotak Mahindra bank and ICICI takes the inspirational tactics to next level in the sector of banking.

Kotak’s 811 digital customers will receive their welcome kit in their verified WhatsApp numbers. As a measure of safety and expecting reviews from the customers the personal and sensitive data and information are not included in the interactive section of WhatsApp messenger. Customers can choose to discontinue the WhatsApp enabling services from the banks for security purposes and can carry on the basic operations with the SMS options only.

Though banks are deciding in favor WhatsApp, owned by Facebook for the Customers interactions, the company itself is in plans to launch payment agent business. WhatsApp is currently running a beta version for its payment application by partnering up with HDFC bank, ICICI bank and Axis Bank. This new exclusive WhatsApp application for payment services works as the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) platform.
