The latest news is the government of Tamil Nadu has proposed to set up as many as 25 EB sub-stations and a staggering amount of Rs 5060 crores would be spent on this. This was announced by chief minister of TN Mr. E. Palaniswami in the assembly on Tuesday, 12th June 2018.
The chief minister made the above announcement under the 110 Rule in the assembly and grabbed many eyeballs. The state of TN would remain as power surplus state forever. The department of Energy would undertake many steps like setting up of 25 EB sub-stations etc for the sake of power requirements in TN in the future.
The various locations were the sub-stations would come up in the future are Ganesh Nagar, KK Nagar in Chennai, Ennore and Avadi in Thiruvallur district plus Pallavaram and Maraimalai Nagar in the district of Kancheepuram.
By the year 2023, to generate 8884 MW of solar power, the government proposed to revive ‘Solar Power Policy 2012’. As planned by former chief minister of TN, Dr. Jayalalitha in Vision 2023, the government of TN has planned to form a new energy policy.
Established in the year 1957, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board or TNEB is a power generation as well as power distribution company. It was known as Madras State Electricity Board in the past.
