Multi-purpose Metro smart cards will be launched by the end of 2018

The latest reports of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) updated the news of issuing smart cards that support the commuters in many ways. With this smart card a person can park his or her vehicle in the metro parking lot and travel through metro train followed by an extension of journey through any Metropolitan Transport Corporation MTC buses. The kind of multipurpose smart card operations will be commenced by the end of the year 2018 said the official release of CMRL updates.

The project is in the final phases of testing in various application of MTC and Metro station ticketing systems. The compatibility of the cards in upgrading some of the software and hardware installations are finally analyzed with feedback mechanism of closed loop users. After deducting bugs and rectifying it the smart card issuing will be immediately started that takes around the end of 2018 on an approximate calculation done by the developers.

Managing director of CMRL, Mr. Pankaj Kumar Bansal updated in an event that held in November 2017 about the smart card method and the joint coordination of MTC with Metro cards of easier ticketing system for public use.

An official from CMRL said that MTC had already hardware access for supporting smart card swipe. But the only work is to update the hardware devices to support the combined ticketing program of both MTC and Metro transport operations.

Money transactions and compatibility of smart card updating methods by which the swipe combined with the wireless financial process involves lot of developing and testing works. After ensuring the security and compatibility of the smart card operating devices the project will be opened for the public use said one of the officials of CMRL.
