In Chennai city there are many corporation schools and many students are studying in these schools. The latest news that has come out regarding these corporation schools now is special learning techniques would be introduced in these schools and this has been planned by the city corporation.
These special learning techniques would be introduced at the primary levels in these corporation schools. Designed by Higher Order of Thinking Skills or iHOTS for the subjects English and Mathematics, these learning techniques are used in few private schools in Chennai. At the popular Rippon buildings in Chennai, the teachers belonging to the corporation schools attended a two day training programme on Monday and Tuesday.
It is now revealed that the corporation school teachers were taught phonetics plus nine bead abacus system for arithmetic by the iHOTS team and it was superb.
According to a top official from education department, these learning techniques would make the students to have a stronger grounding in subjects like English and Maths from their tender age. He further spoke about how the techniques were fabulous and how there was lot of potential present in these methods. He hinted that around 10 schools in Chennai would be teaching these learning techniques to the students.
One important piece of information is this learning technique would be taught to the students of corporation schools in Chennai free of cost. These techniques normally would cost Rs 1000 to Rs 5000. It is clear now that the links to these courses would be provided and teachers would be able to play them. This was later confirmed by a senior official.
Videos, review tests plus explainers would be present in these iHOTS courses. For the English subject, origins and grammar conjugations are present in the iHOTS courses and for maths subject units are present in these courses and these units are taught as geometry and calculating the areas of closed shapes etc. Officials belonging to the education department and academicians are highly interested about the phonetic symbols and acclimatising students to the sounds.
It is known that at the higher secondary level in many schools the phonetics is taught to the students now.
