Parent-child certificate not mandatory for MBBS, BDS counselling

As the state government of Tamil Nadu does not issue certificates confirming the parent-child relationship, The Medical Council has informed that this will not be mandatory for the counselling for MBBS and BDS courses.

In a report released on the website www.tnmedicalselection.org, it is informed that the students/candidates attending the counselling session must bring 9 documents covering the hall ticket for NEET, The mark sheet of NEET, 10th and 12th Standard Mark certificates, Caste Certificate; ration card, residential proof document, and Aadhar card. The 10th document is the certificate confirming the parent-child relationship.

The parents need to bring the proof of belonging to the state of Tamil Nadu through the birth certificate, 10th Standard, 12th Standard, or SSLC or degree certificate, residential proof document, caste certificate, Aadhar card, and income certificate, making up for a total of 8 documents/certificates. The participants who come without the above certificate will not be allowed to attend the counselling session.

In this situation, the students/candidates and the parents are hugely confused as to how to obtain the parent-child confirmation documents. Further, they are worried about how to get a certificate in cases where the parents are not educated.

When enquiring about these difficulties with the Secretary of the Medical Education Admission Council, Dr. G. Selvaraj, he explained that the students from Tamil Nadu need to bring certain certificates including 10th and 12th Standard mark sheets, Aadhar card, ration card, etc. The proof confirming parent-child relationship is not required.

Even the students/candidates who are from other states need not bring all the documents. So, there is no room for any confusion/hardship in this issue. The students/candidates can participate with what all certificates they have in possession.
