Maha Kumbhabhishekam festival at Tirupathi temple on 16th August

It is a tradition to celebrate Maha Kumbhabhishekam festival once in 12 years in the Tirupathi Temple of Lord Venkateswara. Accordingly, after a period of 12 years, the grand Maha Kumbhabhishekam festival is all set to be celebrated from 12th August to 16th August in the Tirupathi temple of Lord Venkateswara and other sanctum sanctorum in the temple.

Thus, Maha Kumbhabhishekam festival will be celebrated at the sanctum sanctorum locations of Anandha Nilaiyam, Garudazhwar Sannadhi, Thayar Sannadhi, and the Varadharajar, Yoga Narasimha, and Lord Anjaneya Swmai Sanndhi.

Accordingly, ‘Angurarppanam’ is scheduled to be performed from 9.00 PM to 11.00 PM on 11th August. On the day of 12th August, the deities in the Palalayam and Yagasalai will be brought to the Yagaslai.

Continuous pooja will be performed from 6.00 AM to 12.00 Noon on 13th August and 7.00 PM to 10.00 PM at the Yagsalai.

On 14th August, special pooja will be performed at the Yagaslai. On 15th August Mahasanthi Thirumanjanam will be performed on the main deity of the temple from 5.00 AM to 8.00 AM.

During the night of 14th August, ‘Maha Pooranahudhi’ will be performed at the Yagasalai.

On 16th August morning, Maha Kumbhabhishekham will be performed.

On this occasion, only limited number of devotees will be allowed to have Darshan of the Lord from 12th August to 16th August. As such, only up to 30000 devotees can have the Darshan of the Lord. that too, only during the period when pooja are not performed.

So, all Arjitha Sevas, VIP Darshans, and Darshan under Rs. 300 tickets are all remaining cancelled.

Subsequently, ‘Mandalabhishekha Pooja’ will be performed for 45 days until 3rd October.

Further, on 16th August, the deity of the Lord will be taken on a procession on the carriage of Garuda (Garuda Vahanam) from 5.30 PM to 6.30 PM on the temple street corridors. At 9.30 PM, the deity will be taken on a procession on the carriage of large (periya) Sesha Vahanam (Snake) on the street corridors of the temple.

So, only limited time will be allotted for the devotees for the normal Darshan till 11th August and hence the devotees are requested to plan their visit to the Tirupathi temple accordingly.
