The blood donation camps organised by police in TN is fantastic

Blood donation is very important and it could save a life. In as many as 89 locations in Tamil Nadu, blood donation camps were organised by TN police on Friday, 29th June 2018. Over 20,000 personnel and other government servants took part in blood donation and grabbed many eyeballs. The blood donation camp was inaugurated by chief minister Mr E. Palaniswamy and deputy chief minister Mr. O. Paneerselvam at the Egmore’s Rajarathinam stadium and as many as 1500 police personnel donated their blood. The event also saw the presence of TN chief secretary Mrs. Girija Vaidyanathan and DGP Mr. T.K. Rajendran.  There were also felicitations for those officials who played their part in creating m-police mobile app.  

The director of Tamil Nadu State Aids Control Society, Mr. K. Senthilraj, expressed his thoughts. He spoke about how 8 lakh units of blood per year were needed by the state. It is important to note that 50 % of blood was collected through government based blood banks while private blood banks contributed to the rest.

Mr. C. Vijayabaskar, who is the health minister, spoke about how the state of TN requires 30,000 units to 35,000 units of blood every month. He also highlighted about the capacity to collect and store 60000 units of blood in 89 blood banks.
