The Chennai High Court has ordered the State Government of Tamil Nadu that it must be ensured that all the 2-wheeler passengers must wear a helmet and all the 4-wheeler passengers must wear the seat-belt.
Rajendran from Chennai Kottur had submitted a petition to the Chennai High Court mentioning that most of the 2-wheeler and 4-wheeler riders do not wear helmets or the seat belts. In fact, this tendency has increased. As per the Motor Vehicle Act, there is a law which makes both helmets and seat-belts mandatory. So, orders must be issued to the Tamil Nadu state government to ensure that this is implemented strictly.
It is well-known that there has been an increasing number of road accidents as the helmets and seat-belts are not worn. To prevent this, the above rules must be implemented strictly.
The Chennai high court judges observed on this issue that there has been an increase in the violation of traffic rules. It must be emphasized to wear helmets and seat-belts.
The headlights fitted in front of the 2-wheelers and the 4-wheelers replaced with higher wattage LED bulbs. The front light must have a black sticker. These 2 points must be strictly monitored and the traffic rules must be implemented properly.
The Motor Vehicle Act regarding the above must be strictly implemented and stringent immediate legal action must be taken on any violations.
Following this order, the Tamil Nadu state government must submit a detailed report on this implementation on 27th July. The case was adjourned after this.
