Amullaivoyal, Vadaperumbakkam and Burma colony are three important residential areas in Manali zone in Chennai. There are bridges present in these 3 areas and these bridges are making huge noises now.  It is now brought out that three new bridges would be built replacing the present bridges in these above mentioned areas of Manali zone.  It was in the year 2015 severe floods in Chennai battered these three bridges and the corporation of Chennai expressed its intent to rebuild these three bridges few years back. The corporation of Chennai is now ready to issue tenders for the Rs 44.25 crores project to rebuild these bridges. Detailed project reports or DPR have been made for building new bridges that would replace the already existing bridges. This was confirmed by the officials belonging to bridges department.

Andar Kuppam Red Hills Road and 100 Feet Road would be connected by the bridge in Amullaivoyal, Gandhi Main Road Madhavaram- Red Hills Road would be connected by the bridge in Vadaperumbakkam. The bridge at Burma Colony would connect Burma Main Road and Manali Expressway. These new bridges when completed would be beneficial for around 1.5 lakh people. One important piece of information is all these three bridges would have pedestrian walkways plus two lanes on either side.

By April 2019 or in another eight months of time, the construction of new bridges would be completed. It is now said that the residents belonging to these neighbourhoods would have to put up with one more monsoon with the existing structures. It must not be forgotten that in the year 2016 the existing bridge in Amullaivoyal caught the attention of many after it had lost the railings because the bridge was submerged in excess water released from Poondi reservoir. For almost a period of one month this bridge could not be used.
