More seats to be present in Kovai Express train between Salem and Chennai

Good news for those who travel in the Kovai Express train between Salem and Chennai. The latest news now is Southern Railways is planning to increase the number of seats from the present 300 to 400 in the second class under pooled quota reservation.

Many passengers travel from Coimbatore to Chennai in this express train during the weekends. The Salem station has been downgraded from the general quota to the pooled quota by the southern railways from the month of July in 2017 is known. It is important to note that it reduced the second class ticket allocation to 300 in the route between Salem and Chennai. Those passengers travelling between Salem and Chennai could not get confirmed tickets and are finding it difficult.

Member of Divisional Rail Users Consultative Committee, Mr. K. Baskar spoke about how the tickets from Salem to Chennai gets waiting list and there are about 400 tickets available in general quota from Kovai to Chennai. It is now clear that the southern railways would be increasing the seats based on the request made by Baskar who is also a regular traveller in this Kovai Express train.

According to an official belonging to the railways, the number of seats in A/C class would also be increased to 30 soon.
