  • It is a routine to lit up a candle when the electric power gets off. In order to increase the lighting extent, keep a mirror right behind the candle. There will be a double-light effect.

  • While preparing food items with jaggery as an ingredient, add a few spoons of ghee which will enhance the taste, flavor, and smell.

  • If carrot or beetroot wither, while cutting them, drop the pieces in water mixed with a pinch of salt. It will freshen the vegetables and the cutting also will be easier.

  • Soak the clothes to be washed in lukewarm water for some time and then wash with the detergent for better washing.

  • In an empty container spray and spread some sugar first and then keep the biscuits. Hey will retain their crispness for a longer time.

  • Do not drain the water used for washing rice, vegetables, etc. Instead, use this water for the plants. It will act as a good fertilizer.

  • To keep the green challis fresh for a longer duration, remove the end and keep the challis covered in a paper and then keep in the fridge.

  • Washing the vessels or utensils with the water used for boiling potato  will make them shining.

  • If you notice excess smoke in the room or hall, hang a damp cloth in the place – the smoke will vanish.

  • To remove the dirt/leftover sticking to the bottom of the aluminum vessels, rub it with salt paper and then clean – it will get removed.

  • To clean the gas-stove kept in the kitchen, mix equal quantities of coconut oil and kerosene and use for cleaning the gas-stove, It will glisten and the kitchen will be cleaner and brighter.

  • If cockroach problem exists in the kitchen/fridge/bathroom, keep a few Aspirin tablets in a few places – cockroaches won’t enter.

  • In order to remove the  foul odour after eating raw onion, it is better to soak the onions in salt water for some time before eating.

  • Keep a newspaper cut to the size of the doormat under the doormat. The dirt from the doormat will get accumulated on the newspaper piece which can be removed.

  • To prevent the bananas from blackening, keep them covered in damp cloth.

  • Do not keep apple and carrot in the same compartment in the refrigerator. A vapour released by the apple will make the carrot taste bitter.

  • When cooking vegetables such as beans or broad beans, add a few drops of lemon or tomato juice – it will get cooked faster.

  • Before cutting the onion, keep them in lukewarm water for some time. This will prevent the irritation in the eyes.

  • In case any dish prepared has excess salt, add a stripped piece of potato to the dish. The excess salt will get reduced.

  • After the dining/lunch/eating session, wipe the dining table with a mixture of vinegar and paraffin oil. The foul smell will be gone and the dining table will glisten.
