State bank of India, the largest lender in the country will be conducting Kisan Mela, a nation-wide outreach program. This is to educate all the farmers with financial literacy.
With over 14,000 rural and semi-urban branches, the bank is eyeing to encompass more than 10 lakh farmers across India through Kisan Mela that is scheduled to take place on 18th July.
This is a unique initiative taken by the State Bank of India for getting connected with their customers who are farmers. This initiative shall attend to all their grievances and make them understand about their own rights and about the various kinds of initiatives they take, says an SBI statement.
There are over 1.5 crore farmer customers to the SBI. The bank says the recent Kisan Mela they had organized received over 6 lakh farmers from across India. In this program, credits in the name Kisan Credit Card will also be given to the farmers – it is 10 percent enhancement out of the total credit limit towards account renewal, says SBI.
The key benefits of renewing KCC account, ways to reap most benefits out of interest subvention from government through Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, etc. will be educated through the program.
The farmers will also be educated about the different advantages of renewing KCC account at the right due time and the ways to use KCC Rupay Card for making all kinds of transactions easier.
Apart from this, the program will throw light on the different agri-products such as agri-loa, the mudra loan and loans of other kinds pertaining to agri activities.
