The various cooperative unions in each district including the primary agricultural cooperative units have decided to build marriage halls in each district and lease them for the public at relatively lower rates.

In Tamil Nadu, the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Loan Union, Cooperative Sales Union, etc., are functioning under the state government department of cooperatives. Further, they also run the ration shops. They have also set up departmental stores, vegetable shops, and medical shops. The items are sold at a lower rate as compared to the prices in the open market.

Now, they have taken a decision to build marriage halls in each district and lease them at a lower rate for the public. An official from the concerned department explained in this regard that the cooperative unions/societies possess more land properties which are presently being illegally occupied and use it for wrong purposes.

A decision has been taken to build commercial complexes and marriage halls in the above places to lease them at lower rates for the cooperative society members and the public.

This will be mutually beneficial for the public to spend lesser and the cooperative societies to earn the much-needed revenue.

In the current year, action has been initiated to build a marriage hall at a cost of Rs, 2 Crores in Trichy by the Thuraiyur Agricultural Cooperative Society. Subsequently, a marriage hall will be built in each district. In order to avoid any political interference during this construction activity, all activities will be online through the internet.
