First year medical course classes set to commence tomorrow (1st August)

The classes for the 1st year of the current year’s new students are set to commence tomorrow (Wednesday, 1st August). Th Director of the Medical Education, Edwin Joe, has announced that the boys must wear shirts and pants whereas the girl students must wear saris or churidars.

The 1st Phase of counselling for admission to the medical courses for the academic year 2018-19 commenced on 1st July and concluded on 7th July. 2639 seats of the state government quota were filled up during this session in the 22 government medical colleges, Chidambaram Raja Muthiah Medical College, and K K Nagar ESI Medical College.

In a similar procedure, 862 seats under the state government quota in 11 private medical colleges were also filled up. 153 seats for the BDS course were filled up in the Chennai Tamil Nadu Government College of Dentistry and the Chidambaram Muthaiah College of Dentistry

Most of the 1045 seats available under the state government quota have been filled. The balance seats are to be filled up in the 2nd Phase of Counselling. The students who participated in the counselling session and go the admission papers have already joined their respective colleges.

In this situation, the regular classes for the 1st year MBBS course are set to commune tomorrow on 1st August (Wednesday). The Directorate of Medical Education has put up regulations regarding the dress code.

The classes for the 1st year medical course in the government medical colleges are scheduled to commence tomorrow (1st August – Wednesday). The freshers will be welcomed wholeheartedly and with great affection by the senior students. Th students have to avoid wearing jeans pants and T-shirts and sleeveless shirts. The girl students must come wearing only saris or churidars.

The girl students must not wear leggings. The boys must wear shirts and pants with the shirt tucked inside the pant. They must wear shoes. The students will no be allowed to use cell phones in the classes.

All colleges have been informed of the above. Also, activities have been initiated to prevent ragging. This is as informed by Edwin Joe.
