These are important things to remember while wearing contact lens

We often give more importance to our outside looks. Many of us are unable to withstand the comments of our friends, relatives etc when we wear spectacles for eyes and in order to avoid embarrassment we use contact lens. It is worthy to mention here that the contact lens are placed directly on the eye surface and is used to correct vision or for some cosmetic purpose also. The advantages of wearing contact lens are they give better peripheral vision, do not collect moisture etc.
These are the important things we must know when while wearing contact lens.
Avoid water:
It is said that amoebas are present in the river or lakes etc and these could damage our eyes. Do not use contact lens when swimming or bathing. Airtight goggles could be used when contact lens is used during swimming to avoid water affecting the lens.
Never sleep with contact lens:
This is one important point to remember for those who use contact lens. The dryness of the environment and the presence of less oxygen to eyes could lead to eye infection. Before going to sleep it is must to remove the contact lens.
Before applying contact lens wash hands:
Our hands have germs and bacteria. These move easily into the eyes from hands. Before applying contact lens washing our hands is a must. Avoid using too much soap and after washing drying the hands using towel should be done.
Cleaning the box is must:
It is important to clean the box in which the lens is kept. After 3 months the box must be changed. Many people who use contact lens forget this.
Avoid wearing lens when sick:
It is important to note that the contact lens should be avoided during sickness especially during cold. Avoid wearing lens when the eyes are reddish or puffy.
Use lens in correct position:
This is also one important thing to note while wearing contact lens. The lens is placed on the finger tip and if the lens forms symmetrical’ U’ then it is the correct position.
Regular blinking:
Regular blinking is important as it would keep the lens moist and clean. This is also one important thing that must be remembered by us when wearing contact lens.
Close eyes when using cosmetics or aerosol sprays:
Sometimes while wearing contact lens we use cosmetics or aerosol sprays like hairsprays etc. At that time we must close our eyes so that residual film on the lens could be prevented.
