Reaffirming its commitment to increase socio-economic development of rural India by skillingyouth from these areas and ensuring that they can build a sustainable livelihood, Amara Raja Skill Development Centre today conferred certificates in “Multi Skill Technician” to 101 students, during the convocation ceremony of its 6th batch. The ceremony was organized at the Institute’s premises at Petamitta, Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. The awardees include 67 Boys and 34 Girls.All of them are now placed within Amara Raja Group.
The batch, comprising youth from rural background, received the certificates at the ceremony held in the presence ofDr. Ramachandra N Galla, Amara Raja Group Founder& Chairman,Mr. Jaikrishna B., President - Group HR, Corporate Communications & New Business Development, among other Executives of Amara Raja Group. The parents of the students were also present at the convocation.
Speaking at the convocation, Dr. Ramachandra N Galla, Founder & Chairman, Amara Raja Group, said, “We strongly believe that skilling the rural youth can bring about significant and sustainable socio-economic growth overall. The Multi Skill Technician course at ARSDC is designed to change the lives of not just the youth getting the training but also their families and many others around them. Apart from making them confident individuals, it also prepares them to contribute meaningfully to the society and the country at large.”
“Our Skill development Centre had been skilling rural youth since 2014 and all of them so far have been successfully placed within Amara Raja companies. Going forward, ARSDC is also set to design customized skill development courses and offer to other Industries, if they have the need for skilling and absorbing rural youth into their operations. Rajanna Trust, the CSR wing of Amara Raja, which have been spear heading these Skill initiatives are also planning to open the next Skill Development in the capital city of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati near Guntur.”, he added.
The ‘Multi Skill Technician Course’ is 18 months, fully residential course(blended with class room learning, workshops, sports, games, on the job training and various other cultural activities) offered free of cost to the rural youth. While the Students undergo on the job training at different factories, the Companies offer them stipend too.
As many as 341 Students, including 276 boys and 65 girls are undergoing training in ARSDC now. So far 658 students had been placed in various companies of the Amara Raja Group on permanent rolls from Batch-1 to Batch-6, including 493 boys and 165 girls. The course’s key objective is to provide systematic Technical & Non-Technical Training to rural youth, in order to help them inculcate both life and job skills. Students who have cleared the 10th standard or Intermediate passed or failed students are considered with a minimum age of 17 years and maximum of 22 years. ARSDC has the latest infrastructure, well equipped class rooms, laboratories and workshops. The institute encompasses mechanical fitting shops, machine shops, welding shops, electrical labs, electronics labs and computer labs. Specially designed curriculum is developed by ARSDC with the inputs from industry to bridge the skill gap. The campus also has playgrounds and a hostel with capacity of 504 for boys and 240 for girls.
