The changes in the examination format in the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) system for the 10th and 12th Standards and conducting the examinations earlier than usual dates adhered so far will be implemented during this current academic year.
Hence, for all the schools following the CBSE syllabus, the examinations for the 10th and 12th Standards will be conducted earlier.
For the group with Industrial Training as the main elective, the examinations will be conducted in February from the current practised month of April. For the groups with other electives, the examinations are scheduled to be conducted in March.
The results are to be announced in May.
As per the current practice, the students who had applied for revaluation or re-totalling are not able to pursue higher education in the same academic year due to delayed results waiting for the revaluation/re-totalling. Accordingly and as per the Delhi High Court Order, the central government Department of Human Welfare and Development has ordered to implement the above changes.
In a similar trend, changes are to be carried out in the format of the English question paper. Until now, 49 questions were being asked. Henceforth, there is a reduction of the number questions by 5 from 40 to 35 questions.
The model question paper as per the revised format has been uploaded in the website.
Meanwhile, for the 10th Standard classes, the system of ‘theory’ and ‘practical’ was in vogue in which the students were to score a minimum of 33% in both for a pass in this subject.
Meanwhile, the system of Public Examination for the 10th Standard was introduced I the year 2017. Hence, this regulation of having to score a minimum of 33% in both theory and practical examinations was relaxed and the condition for a pass was refixed as 33% combining both.
As there is no clarification regarding this issue whether this combined 33% for a pass will continue in this academic year as well, the students are confused.
