Indian Institute of Technology Madras or IITM is one of the premier educational institutes in our country. It is revealed that in this current academic year, IITM has witnessed an increase in the pre-placement offers or PPOs and as many as 130 students have received job offers from major companies.
It is known that on 1st of December the placement season would start in all the IITs in India. Many companies provide offer letters to the students who have done well during their internships and this is even before the starting of the placement season. It is worthy to note that in 2017 as many as 118 offers were received by IITM before the placement season. Qualcomm, Samsung R & D have offered jobs to the students in this 2018. This increase in the pre-placement offers or PPOs is due to the robust internship programme of IITM. Professor Manu Santhanam who is the advisor Training and Placement at IITM spoke about how through an institute coordinated process the internships are facilitated. He then explained about the rise in PPOs and said the excellent performance of the students in the internships was the major reason.
The management studies students of IITM would now feel delighted due to the fact that they have received as many as 19 offers this year. Companies such as Accenture, VIP industries, Dell etc have provided pre-placement offers to these management studies students.
According to Professor Usha Mohan who is the placement coordinator, department of management studies in IITM, during the summer internships many companies visiting the department and provide placement offers to the students. She later revealed how the department of management studies loves to work with firms that offer challenging projects and multiple job profiles for the students. It must be taken into account that from 69 PPOs in 2015-16 to 130 PPOs in 2018-19, IITM has seen superb increase in the pre-placement offers
