A latest update from Chennai City Traffic Police announced the changes made in the departure schedules and pick up of Tamil Nadu buses for Pre-Diwali journey between November 2 and 5, 2018. In order to organize the journey with uniform distribution of heavy crowd the departure schedules have been slightly changed by the authorities.

The announcement comes as a follow up news after the government official release of not having mandatory ticket printout for the journey before Diwali in Tamil Nadu Government buses. The SMS confirming the ticket and other details with a valid ID are enough to confirm the journey said the government circular.

Now the latest update informs the facilitation of special buses for Diwali operated from Chennai to neighboring states without any traffic congestion. The new departure points of these special buses are officially released by the traffic police department operated from six locations.
  • Special Buses departing from Koyambedu will not cross Tambaram and Perungalathur and will not have stops over these locations. It takes the diverted route via Maduravoyal – Poonamallee – Nazarethpet - Outer Ring Road to reach Vandaloor. Passengers who booked these buses have to board at temporary bus stands at Urapakkam or Kelambakkam.
